3D digital production of respirators

Technology: MJF
Device: HP Jet Fusion 4200 a 5200
Material: PA 12

3Dees Industries coordinated the production and assembly of the respirators, whose basic part (the body of the respirator with components) is printed on the HP Jet Fusion 4200 and 5200 3D printers. The delivery of more than 3,000 sets was delivered within a few weeks to the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic based on a framework order.

The respirators were developed by the Czech Technical University (specifically CIIRC) under the name RP95-3D as a protective FFP3 class half-mask with replaceable external filters.

The task of 3Dees Industries was to quickly ensure coordinated production on all installed HP Jet Fusion 4200 and 5200 production 3D printers in the Czech Republic and subsequent simple assembly of all other components – this was besides the mask body, a silicone seal, filter, and clamping tapes.

The respirators have received CIIRC RP95-3D certification according to EN 140:1999 for HP Multi Jet Fusion additive technology, which ensures the imperviousness of the surface of the printed components. The aim of further development at CIIRC was to improve the design, simplify the final assembly and use additional manufacturing technologies.

The whole project to supply respirators was non-commercial in nature.

Further information on the respirator development project can also be found on the website of the Czech Technical University (CIIRC).
