3D printing of bicycle components

Technology: MJF
Device: HP Jet Fusion 4200
Material: PA 12

For the Czech bicycle manufacturer Repete, we print grommets on HP Jet Fusion 4200 and 5200 3D printers. The grommets are made of tough PA 12 material and serve on the frames as guides (or plugs) for integrated routing of shift cables and brake bowden through the frame interior.
The entire system of integrated guides and bushings has been designed so that some of the bushings are interchangeable and the frame is compatible for mechanical and electronic shifting. Thus, frames can be manufactured in one version and only the bushings are changed. "The shifting is less prone to dirt and the system also adds to the aesthetics of the bike," says brand co-founder Robin Fischer.

HP's 3D printing has greatly aided the variability of the solution, allowing not only rapid development of the entire system but also immediate production of the final parts.
After several years of development, the Prague-based brand Repete introduced new models in June 2019: the gravel bike Verne and the road model Reason. See photo gallery. At the same time, it opened its Prague showroom. In 2015, Repete was the only domestic brand to win the Best Road Bike award at the North American Handmade Bicycle Show.
