Xact Metal expands metal 3D printing capabilities: new XM200G µHD and development of the large-format XM300G
Laser metal powder sintering (LPBF) technology is undergoing a significant transformation - and Xact Metal is one of the manufacturers pushing the field towards greater availability, process flexibility and higher detail. At Formnext 2025, the company unveiled several major innovations: new process parameters for metal powders, the XM200G µHD high-precision 3D printer, and confirmation of the ongoing development of the XM300G industrial system.
New process parameters for metal powders: more possibilities for industry and toolmakers
Xact Metal is building on its metal powder partnership with Uddeholm (Voestalpine Group) and its Corrax tool steel in 2024. It then adds two more strategic material collaborations for 2025:
Sandvik's Osprey MAR 55 tool steel
- alternative to H13 and Dievar
- hardness >50 HRC
- excellent wear resistance
- no need for high temperature preheating of the building platform
This steel is especially designed for moulds and demanding tooling applications where high toughness and stability are required.
Aluminumalloy ALSi10Mg NExP-1 from Equispheres
- non-reactive powder (significantly higher safety)
- high print quality due to spherical particle geometry
- simplifies handling and storage
- suitable for automotive and mass industrial production
The emphasis on material range extends the possibilities of LPBF for companies that want to develop functional prototypes, small series or functional parts with high demands on mechanical properties.
XM200G µHD: Micro-High-Definition LPBF for micromechanics and electronics
The XM200G µHD, a major new product for 2025, takes precision 3D printing from metals into an area previously reserved for MIM or Binder Jetting technologies.
The 3D printer can process powders from 5-15 µm in size and offers:
- laser focus size: 25 µm
- build space: 140 × 140 × 150 mm (optional Z-axis up to 290 mm)
- laser power: 100 / 200 / 400 W
- high resolution and accurate printing of miniature structures
The technology is designed for:
- electronics and micromechanics
- antennas, waveguides and RF components
- medical instruments
- defense applications
- functional parts with fine details
First deliveries of the XM200G µHD 3D printer are scheduled for mid-2026.
"The XM200G µHD version significantly expands the capabilities of precision LPBF printing and opens up applications that were previously beyond the reach of conventional systems. For manufacturers of electronics, sensors or micro parts, this is a real step forward."
Matyáš Chaloupka, 3Dees Industries.
XM300G: modular industrial system for mass production
Xact Metal has also confirmed the development of the XM300G, which targets stable and repeatable series production:
- 1 / 2 / 4 lasers, 500-1000 W each
- build volume 300 × 300 × 400 mm
- 100% laser field overlap
- replaceable build chamber
- dosing hopper + long-life filter
The compact design is a great advantage, allowing installation even in common industrial premises - the device is designed to pass through standard doors without any problems. First deliveries start in the second half of 2026.
Xact Metal: additive manufacturing accessible to all
Xact Metal has long promoted the idea of affordable 3D metal printing for companies that don't have the budget for large industrial systems. The philosophy of "industrial quality - accessible design" is reflected in all new models.
"Our goal is to make high-quality 3D printing from metal accessible not only to large companies, but also to smaller manufacturers and research institutions,"
Juan Mario Gomez, CEO of Xact Metal
The new XM200G µHD and XM300G models confirm the trend that metal additive manufacturing is becoming both more affordable and more precise. The combination of high-precision micro LPBF technology, expanded material offerings and modular architecture brings smaller and medium-sized businesses options that until recently were reserved only for high-end industrial centers.
